Incubation Syntax

Runway has a very flexible syntax for incubating (deferring) actions.

To defer an action for the specified number of days, weeks, fortnights, months or years:

• +5d
• +2w
• +1f
• +3m
• +5y

When incubating, a number of 1 is assumed; e.g.

• +d is the same as +1d
• +m is the same as +1m
• +f is the same as +1f

To return an incubated action to the To Do list, incubate it for zero days:

• +0d

To move an action to the Today list:

• !

To defer an action without being specific:

• +later

To incubate an action until the start of a specific month:

• +jan
• +feb
• etc.

To incubate until the first of a coming quarter (Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct)

• +1q = first of the next quarter
• +2q = first of the quarter after that

To incubate an action until a specific day of the month

• +2nd
• +17th
• +23rd
• etc.

Note that "+31st" is interpreted as the last day of the month for months with fewer days.

To incubate an action until a specific date:

• +22/9 for September 22
• +9/4/09 for April 9, 2009

(Note that dates are in the format DD/MM/YY, not in the US format MM/DD/YY)

To incubate an action until a specific time:

• +22/8-13:00 for August 22nd at 1pm
• +22:15 for today at 10:15pm

To incubate for a number of hours:

• +3hours
• +1.5h

To incubate an action until a specific day of the week

• +monday
• +mon
• +fri
• etc.
